Leslie Crutchfield

Leslie Crutchfield is a managing director of the Ashoka Global Academy for Social Entrepreneurship, a research grantee of The Aspen Institute’s Nonprofit Sector and Philanthropy Program, and a philanthropic advisor. She co-authored FORCES FOR GOOD: THE SIX PRACTICES OF HIGH-IMPACT NONPROFITS (Wiley 2007) with Heather McLeod Grant. Leslie helps manage Ashoka’s recently-launched Global Academy program, whose members include the global greats of social entrepreneurship such as Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus, founder of the Grameen Bank. A social entrepreneur with a passion for publishing, Leslie co-founded "Who Cares: The Tool Kit for Social Change," a national magazine for young activists published from 1993 – 1999 with a circulation of 50,000. Leslie has lectured at Harvard and Stanford’s business schools, and frequently presents at industry conferences on topics such as nonprofit management, social entrepreneurship, international development, high-impact philanthropy, and women’s leadership. She has been featured as one of America’s top leaders under 40 by Newsweek. She volunteered with Crossroads Africa in the Gambia, and serves on the board of the SEED Foundation in Washington. D.C. She holds an MBA and an AB from Harvard University, and resides in Washington, D.C. area with her husband and two children.
