Ilana Seid

Location: Stanford, California
Ilana Seid is a soon-to-be graduate of Stanford University (Class of '07) with a degree in Economics. She is originally from a small island nation in the Pacific called Palau, where she was the sole recipient of the Palau National Full Scholarship for undergraduate education. At Stanford she was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega community service fraternity and Cap and Gown Women's Honor Society. While at Stanford she also co-founded Gumball Capital (www.gumballcapital.org), which is a non-profit with a mission to engage college students in microfinance through entrepreneurship. Her work experience as an undergraduate includes summer internships with the Permanent Mission of Palau to the United Nations, as well as with Lehman Brothers in Tokyo, Japan. At the Permanent Mission of Palau to the UN she worked with the UN Development Programme primarily on capacity building and the sustainable development of Small Island Developing States. Due to her experience and Palau's nomination, the UN Office of Sport for Development and Peace subsequently named her a UN Youth Spokesperson for the Millennium Development Goals in 2006. At Lehman Brothers in Tokyo, she worked with the Global Real Estate Group and the Real Estate Investment Banking division on real estate related deals all over Asia. She plans to move to Hong Kong and return to Lehman Brothers Real Estate Investment Banking following her graduation in June 2007.
